Busy Busy Busy

Wow! Last week was so crazy! We moved into our new house last Saturday and my mom and sister got here that night to help us get settled into our house. I am just AMAZED at all the work mom and Patty did. The house looks so good! I had three physical therapy appointments last week and am gone for 3 hours each time. Every time I got home, the house looked so different! Mom single-handedly scrubbed the cupboards, drawers and counters in the kitchen and rearranged everything. I had just been throwing things in the cupboards to get them off the counter, so it was nice to have mom put some order to everything. Another time I went to physical therapy mom got down on the floor and scrubbed the tiles. She used a little razorblade to get all the paint flecks off the tile and cleaned up the grout, too.

We finally talked mom into taking a day off, though, and do some sight-seeing. I don’t have the pictures on my computer yet, so those will be posted later. We went to the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial and spent about an hour wandering around the site. It’s a very beautiful and peaceful place. We have over 100 pictures of it because it was so beautiful. It’s also very sad. When they built the memorial, they built it on the land where the building once stood. The plaza of the building is still there and so are some of the walls. When they were building the memorial, they had a fence around it to keep people out of the construction site and people started putting signs, gifts, pictures and momentos on the fence. Part of the fence is still up and people still put things on it. It’s very touching.

We also gave them a tour of the base. We all had a good time seeing the building where Caleb works and seeing the different areas on the base. The fighter jets were doing test runs, or whatever they were doing, and flew over our car several times as we were driving by the runway. It was pretty neato. Then we took them to the BX to see how tiny it is compared to the one in Norfolk. The one in Norfolk takes a few hours to see the whole thing and the one here can be walked around in less than ten minutes. We still had fun, though. Patty found some shotglasses she liked and I found some flowers and vegetables that I am going to plant in the backyard. We also found a washer and dryer that we really like, but we can’t afford them. *sigh*

After all that we went to some antique stores. It was fun. I found some 1st edition books about WWI with articles from all sides. They’re pretty cool. That sad part is that it is a 10 book set and the store only had the first 9. So now I’m on a quest to find the 10th book.

While we were driving around, dad called and we all got to talk to him for a little while. He’s planning on coming out here this summer and helping Caleb build some bookshelves for me, some shelves in the garage and do some other home improvment projects. It’ll be so much fun! I wish he could have come this time, but he just started his new job and didn’t want to ask for time off so soon after starting. It sucks, but I understand.

After a fun-filled afternoon of wandering around antique stores we came back to the house to play games with one of our friends. Caleb has become good friends with one of his co-workers and we invite him over a few times a month for dinner and games. This time we played Harry Potter Clue and Phase 10. Harry Potter Clue is so much fun! It has four rotating circles under the board (one in each corner) for the common rooms and they rotate! That opens and closes now secret passageways and doorways into the rooms. It was so funny because for three turns in a row mom would be right outside the door to a room she wanted and then it would get blocked. lol. It was so much fun.

Sadly, mom and Patty left on Friday morning. It’s wierd not having them here. I’m really glad they were able to come out here and that they worked so hard on the house. They did a great job and tons more than I expected. Thank you and I love you both tons and tons and tons!

I’ll get pics posted of the house and the Memorial later this week. We’re still really busy getting things put away. It’s a little difficult at the moment when Caleb and Dan are networking the house and keep making messes! lol.
