My Name Is Erin

I wrote this post on my other blog and thought I’d post it here as well. I originally wrote it February 2, 2011, and I think it still applies. I haven’t changed anything from the original post.

  • I believe in hard work and personal responsibility.
  • I believe in honesty and dedication.
  • I am a human being who is flawed and imperfect.
  • I say things I don’t mean and do things I regret.
  • I live each day with the determination to be better than the day before.
  • When I make a mistake, I learn from it and vow to do better next time.
  • I love my family and friends and do everything I can to help other people.
  • I believe that I can get past personal shortcomings and become the person God wants me to be.
  • I am a strong person who believes that strength isn’t just winning, but also knowing when to yield.
  • I am a strong person who also has strong insecurities that I battle every day.
  • I am a person who fights against feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy.
  • I am a person who is happy with who I am, how I look and where I am in life, yet has days where I hate myself, how I look and some of the decisions I’ve made.
  • I am a person who handles physical and emotional trials and is proud to know that God knows I’m strong enough to handle them.
  • I believe in God and am proud to be counted as a ‘Mormon’.
  • I know God loves me and watches out for me every day.
  • I know God has created my life for me and has given me the trials and struggles in my life because he knows I am fully capable of handling and surpassing any problem that I encounter.
  • I know that when I make a mistake and stumble on something I encounter, that God is there to pick me up and walk with me through anything and everything.
  • I know that I have but to ask and God will carry me on His shoulders through anything I am going through.
  • I am so happy to know that families are forever and that when I die, I will see all of my family and friends again.
  • I know that through the Atonement of Christ, I can be forgiven of my sins and shortcomings.
  • I am so thankful for the Book of Mormon and for the peace I’ve felt enter my life as I’ve read and re-read it this past month.
  • I’m thankful for the knowledge that God loves each and every one of us enough to restore His full and complete Gospel back on the earth today.
  • I’m grateful for the healing power of prayer and for the knowledge and comfort of knowing that God hears my prayers and answers them, even when it’s not the way I want or expect.
  • It’s gratifying to know that God does everything he does for my personal growth and benefit.
  • I know that every trial and struggle I’ve been through has been so that I can become a better person.
  • I’ve been through some dark and hell-filled days in my short existence and I long-ago wished to forget and erase those moments from my life, but now I am grateful for those painful memories because I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.
  • I am so thankful that I never turned to drugs, drinking or smoking to deal with my pain.
  • I am so thankful that God put people in my life to teach me how to deal with my inner darkness and to teach me how to forgive and move on from those moments so that I can help other people.
  • I am so very happy and thankful that God takes the time to know me and to know exactly who and what I need in my life to get through whatever it is I’m going through.
  • I am a strong person who is growing stronger every day because of the trials I’ve faced and the people I’ve dealt with.
  • I’m a person who recently came to the conclusion that I AM worth being treated with respect and dignity.
  • I am a person who has come to understand that people are not going to treat me the way I, and everyone else, deserve to be treated if I don’t stand up for myself and my self-worth.
  • I believe in treating people with respect and dignity, no matter who they are and how they treat me.
  • I am a complicated person who has flaws, insecurities, shortcomings, goals, determinations, values, morals, beliefs and faith.
  • My name is Erin and I am a Mormon.
