I got my first piece of mail yesterday! lol. I know it’s silly, but I was excited about it.
A couple of weeks ago one of the Malaysian recipe blogs I get stuff from sometimes was holding a raffle for a cookbook. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to cook. I had tons of cookbooks back in the US and had a lot of fun cooking for people. None of my cookbooks made the journey with me and I’ve kinda missed their presence. Nothing makes a kitchen more homey than a stack of well-worn cookbooks. So, I was super excited when I got an email saying I was one of the people who won.
After I got the email saying I’d won and that a cookbook was being mailed out to me, I started checking the mail every day. I normally check it every couple of days because we don’t get anything except bills in there. Fun stuff, right? Troy thought I was silly because sometimes I’d check the mail twice in one day and I’d even check it on Sundays, just in case the mailman came after I’d checked it on Saturday. lol. Yes, I checked the mail the day after I was told I’d won. Silly, I know, but I was just so excited.
And finally, yesterday it came! It actually came on Monday and I don’t know how I missed it. I was home all day waiting for the repair guy to come fix this cabinet that is falling off the wall (yikes), so I didn’t leave the house after I got back from the gym and the only time I was unavailable was when I was taking a shower. That was all before 10am, so I was surprised when I went to unlock the door when Troy got home and found a slip of paper that had been slid under the door saying I’d missed a mail delivery at 4:00pm. It was strange because the doorbell didn’t ring at all on Monday. I was concerned that maybe the doorbell wasn’t working and I’d missed the repair guy because he never came by. After investigating (i rang the doorbell haha) I discovered that the doorbell works just fine. So I don’t know what happened.
Anyways, I didn’t have a change to go pick it up Monday evening, so I picked it up yesterday before I went grocery shopping. I’m so excited about it! I can’t wait to start experimenting and making the recipes gluten-free. Troy was happy about me winning it, too, and I was sad to tell him none of the recipes were gluten-free. But I’ll experiment and see if I can turn these recipes into yummy gluten-free dishes.
Oh, and we even got our very first piece of junk mail! Yippee!
