5-Minute Summary

Goodness! What a week! So, last week was the Relief Society Birthday dinner and it was quite the experience. I had originally asked Rebekah to help me make the food, but she got sick and I planned on doing it myself. THEN, another lady came to the church while I was prepping desserts on Tuesday and realized I was doing everything myself, so she insisted that she help me with everything else. Only, she never showed up. She brought the ingredients, well, part of them, over on Wednesday at noon (instead of earlier in the morning like she was supposed to) and said she still had to get stuff from Costco, but would be back in an hour.

Never heard back from her.

I was talking to Annalise about how the cooking was going that evening and mentioned that the other lady had flaked on me, so she contacted the other lady to find out what was going on. THEN, the other lady texted me and told me her dinner guests had just left and that she’d never made it to Costco. She said she could go right then if I needed her to, but it would be much better for her if she went in the morning. *sigh* Whatever. Just go in the morning. It was already 7pm and Costco closes at 7:30. She wouldn’t have made it anyways.

So, next day she shows up around noon again and leaves immediately. What the crap. I thought you wanted to help? That kinda irritated me because I’d been working slower on both days so that she’d have something to help with. Had she not insisted that she be able to help and I’d stuck with my plan of doing everything myself, I would have worked faster and spent far less time on it all. But, this lady insisted and I was trying to accommodate her. *sigh* I’m trying not to be irritated about it, but it’s very clear this lady has zero respect for me and my time. Next time she offers to help me with anything, I’m keeping my foot down with a solid NO.

But, anyways, everything else turned out okay. There were bumps and chaos and general disarray the night of, but the ladies who were being served dinner really enjoyed the night and had a great time. That makes me happy. My goal was to provide as restaurant-quality a meal as possible and even if the plating wasn’t perfect and it took a while to get the food out, it still turned out pretty well. So, I’m happy with it. I was super stressed the night of, but now I’m pleased with how it all turned out.

Other than that, not much happened last week. I got most of this week’s homework done on Friday and Saturday so that I don’t have to worry about it while I’m on my ENVS field trip, so that’s nice. There are two assignments that are only available the day they are due (Tuesday and Wednesday), so that’s just fine because I don’t leave until Thursday. At 6am. *sigh*

So, yeah, as crazy as last week was, it turned out to be pretty good. How was your week last week?

How I did on my last goals

  1. Don’t screw up the dinner on Thursday – The dinner actually turned out really well! It was chaotic, but the ladies in the dining room loved it, so that’s what matters.
  2. Study for my math test – I didn’t study as much as I had envisioned, but I did get some studying done. Yay!
  3. Get next week’s homework done – I got as much of it done as I could, so I’m pretty proud about that. Now I can focus on my field trip.
  4. Keep up with 12,000 steps a day – This, I didn’t do. A couple days I don’t think I even made it to 5,000 steps. I guess that’s what happens when you spend all day in the kitchen cooking and the rest of your time working on homework. Oh well. It happens.
  5. Go on a 30-min walk at least once a day – I did this on most days, even if it was 30 minutes of walking in circles around my house. Not what I had intended, but at least it was something.

This Week’s Goals

  1. Eat healthy – I always eat bad on trips
  2. Don’t be late for the field trip
  3. Have fun
  4. Help my mom with something while I’m there
  5. Do well on my math test
